Summer Happenings
Well, in the last month a lot has changed....Cara turned 11 months old, I had my 27th birthday (WHOA!), College Football started (ie little girl wearing A&M outfit), annnnnnnnnnnnd we put our house on the market to be leased out and are buying a fixer in the Westbury neighborhood!!!
We are really excited, but I have to be honest I am pretty nervous about moving from our pristine completely finished beautiful house to one that I like to call a diamond in the rough. HAHAHAHAHA We have talked about the idea of moving in to town to be closer to our friends, church, community group, parks, pools, a huge backyard, and all the other things a little kid would like for a long time, but there never was a house that we thought was worth it.
Thennnnnnn 10619 Atwell Dr Houston, Tx 77096 came on the market. Not only was it priced well, but the original owner from 1957 still lived there! The house is completely original! I am super super excited about the potential that it has. There are gorgeous red oak hardwoods under the carpets in the living/dining areas and all bedrooms, and the 1950's baby blue and sea-foam green tile is still in both bathrooms! I am so excited about the bathrooms, and I plan to restore them to their original glory. We are going to sand and refinish the kitchen cabinets until we can save up to redo the whole kitchen, and we are going to take out the wood paneling in the den and breakfast areas and put up dry wall. I have a feeling that I will be using this blog as a way to document our adventures in fixing up our new house!
We are due to close on the Atwell house September 30th, conveniently the same weekend as Cara's birthday party. We will see how that works out! There are still some things that need to come together, like finding a renter for our current home. We have had a good amount of interest in the home, had quiet a few showings, but no offers as of yet. We live in what is known as the Energy Corridor, and there are lots of corporate leases in our area because of all the Oil Companies right around the corner, so we are hopeful that we will get a renter quickly. Please be praying for a renter for our current home, and that everything will come together in the right timing for us.
I will post a link to our current home listing and our "hopefully" future home on here so anyone who is interested in seeing the houses can!
This is where we have lived for the last 3 years!

On a side note, Cara has really started doing some funnnn things! She is working really hard on trying to walk. She walks alongside the couches all the time and will take 3 or 4 steps before falling down. She decided that she enjoys real people food even though she doesn't really have any teeth! She only just got her bottom two teeth at the beginning of August. Her hair is really starting to come in, but it is crazy and sticks straight up. We get so many comments on her hair when we take her out. People ask me "Is her hair like that all the time?" "Did you make her hair stick up like that with static?" and the questions seem to keep going! People are very funny when it comes to babies. I have noticed I have a very hard time keeping a low profile when I take her anywhere, but luckily she doesn't mind too much. I think I mind more than she does. :) She absolutely hates hates hates sippy cups! She will be starving and turn away when I offer her a cup. She has zero interest in learning how to use one. We are incredibly blessed with this little girl, and are so thankful for her sweet little life!
Cara has been going to the front window and watching for her Daddy to get home in the afternoons. She will stand over there until he gets home. It is soooo sweet because she will stand there and look out the window and say "Da Da Da". Love her!
